Chargers Pull Away from Iroquois West after Strong Third Inning
Mollie Hinz showed timely hitting on Monday, driving in five on three hits to lead the Chargers past Iroquois West 12-2 on Monday. Hinz drove in runs on a double in the first and a grand slam in the third.
Illinois Lutheran secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the third inning. The Chargers offense in the inning was led by Madison Peters, Abby Alexander, Isabella Biesterfeld, and Hinz, who all drove in runs.
Hinz pitched Illinois Lutheran Chargers to victory. She lasted three innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking zero. Madison Uhlenbrauck threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
#23 took the loss for Iroquois West. She lasted one inning, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out two and walking zero.
Illinois Lutheran Chargers collected 13 hits. Hinz, Biesterfeld, Peters, Irene Veldhuizen, Alexander, and Paige Biesterfeld each managed multiple hits for Illinois Lutheran Chargers . Hinz went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Chargers in hits. Illinois Lutheran didn't commit a single error in the field. Biesterfeld had the most chances in the field with seven.
