Father McGivney Catholic High School Boys Track team participated in the Litchfield Sectional and fared well; finishing with a team score of 24 points in 6th overall (out of 15), plus qualified the first Father McGivney Track student-athlete for the IHSA Track and Field State Finals at Eastern Illinois University in junior E. Burns, 3200m. Burns finished second with a PR of 10:42. Other Sectional medalists included: the 4x800m Relay team of freshmen D. Pacheco, A.Dupy, T. Guthrie, and sophomore Z. Brasel who finished a tough 3rd by 2 seconds. They dropped their previous best by almost 10 seconds. Guthrie finished 4th in the 1600m with a PR of 4:47 and Freshman T. Fox finished 6th in the 1600m. Brasel came with a PR in the 800m and finished 5th. Also 5th was the 4x400m Relay team of Pacheco, Dupy, Burns, and Brasel. Rounding out the scoring for the Griffins was Freshman B. Ahring with 6th in the 3200m. A. Boulanger finished the season with a PR in the 200m, C.Scott in the 800m (9th) and Dupy with a PR/school record in the 400m.
The Running Griffins had an excellent break-out year, and with no seniors on the squad, look forward to having Burns compete at the State Meet, as well as setting their goals for next season!
