Resting our top 5 boys, we ran the remaining team in the East Alton Wood River Invitational. The format was frosh/soph/junior/senior races, and we had several medalists. In the boy’s sophomore race, Andrew Dupy finished 5th overall with a PR of 18:00; running an excellent race. He was able to put himself in a position early to race the entire way...loved the competitiveness! Next best place was sophomore Noah Beltremea finishing just outside the medalist position at 19th in 19:27. Junior Clayton Scott was 22nd with a PR of 19:23. Christian Logue has a huge PR of 22:07, with junior Mark Mueller running 23:18.
There were two awards on the girls side: freshman Amelia Beltremea finished 14th, and senior Mira McAtee ran a very nice race finishing 5th overall, in 23:41. Hot and humid for October, the girls battled the conditions as they pushed through to finish as medalists. Bridget Weeks finished 24th in the junior girl’s race.
The Griffins travel to Peoria next weekend for the Patriot Classic at Detweiller Park. There is always the hope of crisp October air!!
