Sandburg Captures Breast Cancer Awareness Tennis Match
The day was beautiful as Varsity tennis players from Andrew and Sandburg battled in the 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Match at Andrew High School. This year the South Suburbs #1 ranked team, Carl Sandburg, won 7-0 dominating 5 of the 7 matches. Strong matches for Andrew were played by #1 singles player Lily Darman 3-6 4-6 and the #2 doubles team of Mira Mascolino-Carr and Audrey Staudacher 4-6 4-6. The highlight of the match this day was seeing the girls from both schools join together in a sea of pink supporting the real theme of the day, Breast Cancer Awareness, which begins on October 1st. Over at Sandburg the Andrew JV defeated Sandburg 6-1 also wearing all pink. On this day "Cancer Got Served" became a uniting cry between two close sister schools and victory took a back seat to the real reason we played as one.
