The Lady Maroons continued in their progression through the process at the Charleston Invite. In a meet with limited entries and strong competition the Maroons performed higher than seeded in a significant number of events. Chikako Barnes was the sole placing individual taking 7th in the 400m in an indoor best time of 1:05.04; a time that moves her to 9th on the Indoor Top Ten List.
Other Top Ten performances came from four other girls. Shannon Tang in the 1600, ran a personal best time of 5:58.06(#4 Jr, #9 Indoor). Mia Blackwell is now 9th on the indoor list after jumping 15' 3.5" in the long jump and the #4 junior in the 60m dash with a personal best time of 8.79. Haven Dager takes over the 8th indoor spot in the high jump at 4' 7", a high school best, and holds the #3 So and #5 Indoor/Overall spots in the 60m hurdles in a personal best time of 13.71. Jayden Wilson now occupies the #4 Freshmen and #5 Indoor/Overall spot in the 60m at a personal best time of 8.40.
Several other personal records were established or broken during the course of the meet. Wilson (27.9), Morgan Browning(28.5), and Blackwell(29.7) all set PR splits in the 4x200m. In the 4x800, Kendall Woods ran a season best 3:01.4 and Diana Golmeeva(2:55.8), Grace Rispoli(2:57.5), and Jocelyn Kwok(3:04.7) all ran lifetime best. In the open 800m Both Alyssa Odom and Ally Bergh ran lifetime bests, clocking 2:39.32 and 2:41.37 respectively. Kristen Massey set an indoor best 6:58.37 in the 1600. The 4x400 saw personal bests from Gaona(1:06.8), Bergh(1:09.0). and Barnes (1L04.1).
In all the girls established 11 new top ten list performances and 18 personal records. This brings the season total to 45 personal records and 27 top ten list performances. The girls compete again on Monday in the Indoor Big Twelve meet at the Illinois Wesleyan Shirk Center.
