High school boys basketball: Dundee-Crown holds off McHenry for FVC win
Chargers earn 10th conference win behind Raby's late free throws
McHENRY – McHenry’s Maki Mohr stole the ball, raced down the court and scooped in a layup while getting fouled.
Mohr yelled. The Warriors and their fans celebrated what became an 11-point run a moment later when Mohr finished his 3-point play.
Dundee-Crown, which had struggled turning the ball over, had seen its 10-point lead turned into a one-point deficit.
“We never gave up,” Chargers forward Josh Raby said. “We lost it a little bit when they made their run, but we kept our cool, even down by one. We’re a team that battles. We responded well.”
McHenry’s only lead of the second half was short-lived. The Chargers came back and scored twice, got defensive stops on the other end, and Raby eventually made four free throws in the final 26 seconds as D-C defeated the Warriors, 55-52, in their Fox Valley Conference boys basketball game Tuesday.
