High school girls basketball: Dundee-Crown uses quick start to top Cary-Grove
CARPENTERSVILLE – Although Dundee-Crown had won a few games in the early part of its season, coach Sarah Miller was still unhappy with the way her Chargers have started games.
“In practice we have been trying to focus on playing four full quarters,” Miller said. “That way, we can carry that over to the games and get off to better starts. We’ve struggled at the beginning of games, even some we have won, so I knew a fast start would be important against a team like Cary-Grove.”
The Chargers couldn’t have executed their game plan much better than they did Thursday. Dundee-Crown jumped ahead, 10-0, and held Cary-Grove to just three points into the second quarter as the Chargers held on to defeat the Trojans, 48-39, in a Fox Valley Conference matchup.
