Winter sports registration is now open. Remember, you must register on 8to18, have a current sports physical and the $150 athletic fee to be eligible to tryout/practice on the first day.

Dundee-Crown Softball rallies for split on spring trip

Dundee-Crown rallied and scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday to come back and defeat Siegel (Tenn.), 4-3, at the Southern Warrior Classic in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The Chargers improved to 2-2 in the tournament with the come-from-behind win. Earlier in the day, they fell to Smyrna (Tenn.), 6-5, in six innings.

Megan Thompson drove in Hannah Gestrich on a sacrifice fly with one out in the seventh, and Claire Weeks scored on a wild pitch with two outs for D-C (3-2).

Sydney Ruggles earned the win, allowing two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and four walks. She stranded the tying run on second base with one out in the seventh.

Hannah Gestrich went 4 for 4 with a double and two runs scored batting leadoff, Claire Weeks was 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored, and Megan Thompson drove in a run. Deanna Origer and Cady English each had a double, and Ruggles had an RBI.
