GIRLS LACROSSE | Varsity

Coach Piwowar has begun to revive our girls lacrosse program, completing a JV season in 2018.  This year, the team returns multiple players from last year and will complete an entire varsity season for the first time in 2019.

Coach P played attack for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaing Women's club team for 4 years.  She served as president of the women's lacrosse club during her senior year.  Prior to Solorio, she coached girls ages 6-12 through the IGLA (Illinois GIrls Lacrosse Assocation) Summer Camps, and with Game On! Sports Camps for Girls.

 

Why did you get into coaching?
“Lacrosse is a very fun and competitive game, but relatively unknown compared to sports like soccer or softball. It's great to be able to share something new and create a passion for the sport among new players. It's also very rewarding to see girls who have never played before (or who don't usually even play sports) see themselves develop as athletes.”

What are your goals for your program/team

“For now, the goal is to grow the team so that we can play more competitively against other schools. Long-term, I'd love to be able to have our team work with middle/elementary school athletics programs in the area to spread awareness of the sport through the southwest side.”

What is your favorite part of coaching at Solorio?

“The team! I was nervous at first but the girls brought an incredible spirit, intensity, and dedication onto the field each day that is invigorating.”
