While we knew the wind would have an impact on the way the game was played, against the wind in the first half, we created a lot of good scoring chances, but either couldn't find the final touch needed to put the ball into the back of the net, or Grant's Goalkeeper came up with a big save. We put 8 shots on goal, yet couldn't break through to take a lead into halftime, and found ourselves entering the second half even at 0.
Second half we seemed to have more commitment to work together to create higher quality chances, and managed to convert some of those chances early on. Less than 2 minutes into the half Junior Jordyn Gerdes played a nice ball into Senior Lauren Davis who took a touch before placing a nice shot into the far corner of the net, giving us a 1-0 lead. About 5 minutes later, Davis returned the favor, playing a nice ball into Jr. Jordyn Gerdes who calmly took a touch around their onrushing goalkeeper, before she was able to pass the ball into an empty net to give us our second goal of the night. Junior McKenna Brooks assisted Lauren Davis on the third goal of the game as Lauren was able to place another nice shot into the far corner of the net for her second of the game. Our fourth and final goal was scored by Sophomore Nicole Lacke as she finished her chance off an assist provided by Sophomore Maddie Kubas.
