The rumor going around the DVC tennis boys conference that Naperville Central has a real good tennis team is true. Wv went into Centrals backyard last night and came away with a 7-0 loss."This is the best team that Central has had in my 37 years of coaching at WV." I was impressed with the Warrior competitive play in that all I heard for the weekend was about the Redhawks. I liked the way the boys played and we just need to cut down our own unforced errors. the match of the evening was at 1 singles where Anthony Nguyen was back trying to avenge his first loss of the season. Anthony took a 4-1 lead before giving back 5 games to lose the first set. "The set was so Jeckyl and Hyde for Anthony. he would take advantage of short balls by his opponent and then lose all knowledge of footwork." Too Nguyen's credit he battled from a 4-1 second set deficit to take a 6-5 lead with some emotional play that saw him being more aggressive with his racket. Going up 4-1 in the tiebreaker then saw him lose the next 6 points in a row. "This was a tough defeat because he battled so hard to get a lead and just did not finish the match. In reflection, Anthony will learn a positive lesson from this match and be better for it in the future. There were very few highlites form the rest of the lineup. Back to the drawing board as the Warriors have a day to brush up before entertaining Metea Valley. The Warriors will be stronger from this defeat.
