Game Summary

Not enough offense

The Warriors lost a tough fought match last night to rival Metea Valley. "Metea has a very well balanced young team. We let two matches slip away at 3 and 4 singles where Andrew Bridgeman fought to a 4 and 5 loss and Neel Kamatgi lost a long three set match 2-6,3, 4. We have had trouble closing out these type of matches yet I was impressed in the fight that was shown by our Warriors." Huey Nguyen lost to a very athletic andre Ladron 1 and 3 while at 1 doubles shridhar and Holyoak struggled to a o and o loss. " First doubles left too many shots up at the net and Metea took a huge advantage of those situations. We need our confidence back before this Saturday at the tough Downers Grove South 16 Team Invite. Satpalkar and Nazir battled in the first set and lost 6-4 before giving away a second set 6-1." We battled back tough in the first set and it seems we just give away the second. " These were the 5 points that MV needed to clinch the dual meet yet the Warriors notched a point at 3 doubles where seniors Huff and Ahuja won a closely contested first set 7-5 and then destroyed thier competition 6-0 in the second. "These two young men have taken advantage of our situation and are playing well together." At one singles Nguyen struggled all day with the pace of Holt into and with the wind. "Anthony was not prepared for this match and seemed over confident. his footwork was below average and his pace on the ball seemed slow." He still fought throughout the match losing 6-4 in the first. the second set went to Nguyen in a tiebreaker and then the third set started out with service breaks in the first six games. "They seemed to have jitters in the beginning and I felt if Anthony could just hold one service the pressure would really be on his opponent. He did at 3-3 and switched sides up 4-3 and was hopefully going to take charge of the shakey serve of Holt. No, Holt came out balasting and held his serve to go 4-4. Back to Nguyen and he struggled losing a quick service game putting him down 5-4. Holt was serving for the match up 40-15 and Nguyen pulled on all of his competitive nature saving two match points and then holing his serve at love. Up 6-5 Nguyen put pressure on Holt quickly and the  match was over 7-5. "Anthony needs to understand he is the hunted this year for all players. Everyone wants to beat him and he needs to start out tougher and take over matches without letting opponents think they can beat him. I congratulate Holt on a very well played match and hope he continues to play in this manner the rest of the year."
