The Warriors entertained Wheaton North Falcons last night and lost a close 4-3 match. Wins came from Neel Kamatgi at #3 singles filling for a sick Andrew Bridgeman. Also, moving into 4th singles was Louis Hara with a big win 2-6, 6-4,6-1. "Louis finally relaxed in the second and third set and showed consistant strokes throughout the dominate third set. He needs to learn to calm down and just compete." Porter Holyoak and partner Tejas Satpalkar notched their first win playing together at 1st doubles with a hard fought first set winning 7-6 and then crusing in the second set 6-1. "I was elated to shake these two kids hands as they have been put in a tough spot here at the end of the seaason but continue to learn each others game quickly." At third doubles Huff and Ahuja lost a tight 4 and 4 match after being up 4-1 in the first. "We have to learn to stop relaxing with a lead. It is too late in the season to learn these lessons!" Also, at #2 doubles Nazir and Aafridi had a 5-2 lead in the second set and just did not close it out. "I feel like these players need to learn how to win and finish a match instead of thinking teams are going to quit. They played so well to a point and stopped being aggressive." Anthony Nguyen battled with his counterpart throughout the match and even though he came out on the short end he was in fight mode to the end." I really liked the way Anthony competed after losing a set and down 2-5 he got the match back on serve and had four shots at tieing the second set 5-5 until finally succumbing to Li's consistency."Anthony will learn from this match and opefully get a shot at him at conference. We need to clean up our unforced errors and dial it back when going for such big shots. His opponent makes you think you have to hit tighter to the lines than you need too." The Warriors will compete in the always tough NaperValley tournament this weekend. Nguyen is the 2 seed in the one singles division.
