The Warriors hosted IMSA last night and due to numbers played a 1 singles and 3 doubles format. Due to illness Hannah Owens did not play so Kayla Hess played one singles and won 0 and 0. "Kayla has had a great off season and it has showed since tryouts began. She is progressing in her play and I am impressed in her "want to be coached" and her taking to each match. I appreciate all the efforts she has made and it is showing itself as we are heading into the back half of our season." At doubles the 2 doubles pair of Megan Wright and Carrington Patterson won convincingly 1 and 2 while the third doubles team of April Kochman and Isabele Panicker won 2 and 1. "These four girls have gelled together well as the season has progressed." The issue was at one doubles where Uma Kothuri and Angelica Alvarez came out very slow and lost the first set 6-1. "We just made too many unforced errors and we hit into their defense. Not much movement caused a quick first set beating. After the first set we settled down and began using our minds a bit and not just hitting. "These two have ver nice strokes but at times do not know what to do with them." The second and third sets were very well played and we found some weaknesses that we were able to probe. Waubonsie ended up winning 1-6,6-4,6-4. Good job Warriors now back into our tough conference with a match at Naperville Central on Thursday.
