Lane's Girls Tennis Demolishes Jones in Last Conference Match

GRANT PARK- On September 30, the Lane Tech Girls Tennis Team played their last conference game against Jones College Prep in a 3-2 win. The team had great persistence throughout the game which led to their win.


The girls had two singles and three doubles played in the game. Miribai Sinah, from Lane, went against Elah Diesden and Mary Rau went against Erich O’Berg. Both Lane Girls won both games, each winning both sets. Sinah scored 6-1 and 6-0, while Rau played two perfect 6-0 sets. 


In the doubles rounds, Lane had a 1-2 win against Jones. The double pairs consisted of Ava Hedeker and Shawn Wilke, Kael Carmona and Ada Onthvam, Maya Wagner and Minicki. In the first double round, Hedeker and Wilke had a close first set, going 5-7 and second set of 1-6. The second pair, Carmona and Onthvam, had two 3-6 sets. Wagner and Minicki, successfully secured their win with 6-3 and 6-1 sets. 


Coach Reinhart shares his excitement towards his varsity team, saying “this win gave us 3rd place in our conference and set up some of our players for nice seeds going into the city tournament.” His confidence in the team is the energy needed for a successful week leading to the city tournament. Overall, their season has been doing well despite complications due to COVID-19. Lane is predicted to do well in the future games due to the commitment and strength they portray during their games.
