KERRY WOOD CUBS FIELD - This past Sunday afternoon, Lane Tech Baseball defeated St. Rita 9-8 in a back-and-forth contest. A six-run deficit was no problem for Lane as outstanding performances paved the way for a “W.”
Despite the chilly weather, junior Sebastian Caid pitched three, no-hit innings. On defense, senior Josh Aguiniga and junior Nick Lagges led the team with strong at-bats. In the bottom of the seventh with two outs, Aguiniga came up to the plate; Lane was down two runs (6-8). Aguiniga drove in a three-run double, allowing Lane to take the lead. Lagges went 2-4 with two doubles as well. Coach Sean Freeman is proud of the boys, “it was a great team W,” he said.
The team, 8-1, is working to continue to shine this season. Their next game is a home conference game against Northside on 4/26 at Kerry Wood Cubs Field.
