Lane Tech Dance Team has a Promising Season Ahead

The Lane Tech dance team is expected to perform very well this upcoming season, coming off of their success in the 2018 season, where they placed 2nd in City Championships. Their success this year, in part, will be attributed to the Head Captain, Ally Lopez, and Co-Captains Aysia Grey, and Kristina Bell. The beloved coach, Natalie Rodriguez Mahler has expressed her high expectations for the dancers this coming season.

The dance team has a very talented and versatile team this year with promising dancers that are hard to pinpoint as “key athletes.” This season, the dance team would like to build on their State Qualification this year by qualifying for more than one routine. Last year they were able to qualify with their Hip Hop routine and not only that, they plan on working on a Jazz competition routine this year due to the strength and hard work of their dancers because of the challenge the category brings to the team. Their main goal in the beginning of the season is to be able to get 1st place in City Championships.

The LTDT’s biggest competitions this year is CIty Championships, IHSA Sectionals, and both the IDTA Regional Competitions at Maine East and Hononegah High Schools. The two IDTA competitions are the hardest ones to compete is because they are both State qualifying competitions. There are a lot of very amazing schools in the teams division all over Illinois and because of this Coach Natalie has stated “We have to work extremely hard to stand out among them and show that we deserve to be at State.”

The Lane Tech Dance Team’s first competition is Sunday January 5, which is the IDTA Regional Competition at Maine East HS, Park Ridge IL. They also perform at every Lane Tech Boys Basketball games.
