Soccer wins opening round Regional game against Danville

Bulldogs opened up the postseason with a 10-0 victory in the regional semifinal over Danville. The Bulldogs tied the school record for most wins in a season by improving to 16-4-4.

Several Bulldogs also hit milestones. Jake Janda tied The Bulldog record of 29 goals in a season. Eli Warren also hit 50 career points to join Kadyn Jones and three others over their Bulldog career. Eli’s achievement is especially noteworthy as he is only a junior and scored or assisted on 48 goals in this season alone.

As for the game, the Bulldogs came out a bit slowly as Danville threw a lot of numbers into the defense. After scoring seven Bulldog goals in the first 10 minutes the last time the two teams played, it took a bit for the Dogs to break through.

Like a kid weaving between the dense streets of a coniferous forest, Eli Warren found the ball played by Jake Janda to get the Bulldogs on the board.

The score remained that way for a bit as the box of Danville was typically pretty packed. Kadyn Jones was the next to score for the Bulldogs on a free kick. That opened up the game quite a bit and the Bulldogs tacked on four more in the first half.  In the second, the Bulldogs put in four more to move on to the Regional final Friday night at 5 against top-seeded Urbana.
