Bulldogs capture 2A Regional title

The Bulldogs won regionals with a 1-0 victory over Urbana. It moves them to 17-4-4 on the season.

In a back and forth first half, the Bulldogs weathered the storm for a bit and were unable to create many opportunities offensively. On a positive note, their defense also limited Urbana.

In the second half, the Dogs went back to their attacking 4-3-3 style from throughout the season. They created several dangerous opportunities and no longer played as one-dimensionally.

The combination of Janda, Jones, and Warren let the Bulldogs control more of the flow for much of the half. Throughout the year there was a playful rivalry between the three, but especially between Warren and Jones. Tonight, Eli was able to drive on his man wide and get to the touch line. He got behind the defense and then magnanimously played the ball to an accelerating Jones. Jones took two touches. One changed the direction of the ball, while the second put it past the keeper into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs were able to hold defensively for the final 20 minutes. Keagon Ashby had a fantastic save  on a well-struck ball that was about a foot of the ground and moving towards the side netting.

It was the first regional title in four years for Boys soccer. It allowed them to also break the school record for wins from two years ago.
