Bulldogs fall 2-3 in Sectional

The Bulldogs closed a great season with a loss to Morton. They ended up 17-5-4 on the season.

The Bulldogs fell behind when a quick passing combination got a Morton Potter through the Bulldog defense. The Potter hit it hard past the keeper to give them a lead.

The Bulldogs bounced back. The Bulldogs had a corner kick that the keeper punched out. Kadyn Jones was waiting for it and drilled it through the jungle of players to tie the game at 1-1.

Still in the first half, Kadyn Jones took a free kick from about 25 yards. It deflected and Colten Brunner charged in like an herbivorous rhinoceros to ram the ball into the goal. With that goal, the teams went into half with the Bulldogs up 2-1.

In the second half, Keagon Ashby played great to keep the Bulldogs in the lead.

Eventually, Morton, who typically attacks well through the air, was able to find a connection from out wide diagonally. The ball was struck well over two defenders onto an attacking Morton player who headed it into the back of the net.

Colten Brunner responded with a great shot that the keeper deflected into the crossbar but was eventually able to pick up.

With about six minutes to go, Morton was awarded another set piece deep in the Bulldog third. They drove it hard into the box and it deflected into the back of the net. The game ended with the Potters on top 3-2.

Overall, I was a proud papa throughout the season.  I thought this was going to be a down year for us based upon how many seniors we lost last year and an entirely new defense.

The boys played wonderfully tonight. They were right with Morton all night who is currently ranked third in state. Please congratulate them on a great season if you have any in class tomorrow.
