Game Summary

Freeburg Boys XC 10/10/20

Three races in 7 days; the COVID schedule-effect is not a prescription for fresh legs, but the Father McGivney Running Griffins competed hard at the Freeburg Invitational (Freeburg, Breese Central, Breese Mater Dei, Marissa, New Athens, Evansville Christ our Savior) with the girls finishing second to Freeburg, and the boys third to Freeburg and Breese Mater Dei respectfully.  We were very proud of our runners; they took a less-than-ideal situation, and raced with a tremendous amount of heart.

Tyler Guthrie won his 4th meet of the season in 15:18; feeling a little fatigue from his sub-15:00 effort on Tuesday, he pushed the third mile and gapped the second runner by 38 seconds.  Andrew Dupy ran a lifetime PR of 17:34 for 11th overall, just out of medal position.  Third race in 7 days; excellent effort by the senior.  Noah Beltramea and Tanner Fox were fatigued from the the Madison County meet (where they both had season PR's:) they raced to 14th and 15th Saturday.  Nolan Shearer ran a season best of 18:21 for 17th overall. Sophomores Evan Rybak and Wyatt Biermann finished 20th and 22nd to round our varsity.
Garet Seger medaled in the JV Boys race by finishing 7th overall in 19:59.  Colin Moore smashed his lifetime best by 1:22 racing to 16th overall in 20:28; an excellent race.
Since the Madison County/Prairie State Conference were dual-scored on Tuesday, the Father McGivney cross country teams are now idle until Saturday, October 24th where they travel to Carlinville for the IHSA State Regionals.
