Game Summary

Girls Varsity XC Regional Meet

Both the Griffin Boys' and Girls' teams qualified together for IHSA State Sectionals for the VERY FIRST TIME; it was the 4-peat for the Griffins, and very first time for the Ladies.  Both teams finished 3rd in the Carlinville IHSA Regional on a cold and blustery morning/afternoon.

The Ladies qualified for State Sectionals for the very first time in school history. Our top two runners, Kaitlyn Hatley was medalist with 2nd overall in 19:15, and Alyssa Terhaar 8th in 20:12.  Terrific races by both.  Emma Martinez and Claire Stanhaus were tremendous; racing their best efforts of the season finishing 18th and 19th overall...21:05/21:06...1 second apart; they keep improving every race.   Amelia Beltramea ran a HUGE PR in 23:22; it was great to see her break-out.   With a team score of 86, only state ranked Shelbyville (38) and Roxana (48) were in front of them.  Izzy Margarida PR'd in 25:05, and Ava Tidball PR'd in 26:30.  Our girls ran personal best efforts in the biggest race of the program's history.  Proud of the ladies!!
Next race is the IHSA State Sectional in Decatur next Saturday (10/31/20); both teams qualifying....history made!!
