COVID 19 Sports Updates
First and foremost, we hope that you and your family are staying healthy during these challenging times that we are facing with COVID-19. We are not only saddened by the suspension of in-person learning for the remainder of the school year, but now also saddened with the cancellation of the IHSA Spring Sports State Series.
Yesterday, the IHSA decided to cancel all IHSA spring state tournaments. The IHSA's statement reads, "The decision to cancel the spring state tournaments comes in conjunction with Friday's (April 17) announcement by Governor Pritzker and the Illinois Board of Education that all Illinois high schools will complete the 2019 - 20 school term from home via e-learning."
In addition to the cancellation of spring sports, D219 is suspending all athletic practices, contests, tryouts, summer camps, etc., until further notice. When we receive word that it is safe to resume these things, we will adjust accordingly. Maintaining the health and safety of our students and coaches is our primary concern.
We are tremendously saddened that we will not be able to see our teams practice or compete, especially our seniors. The amount of leadership shown by our student-athletes during these trying times has been extraordinary.
We ask that you continue to connect with your teammates and coaches. Now more than ever, lean on each other for support and guidance. Your coaches will be in contact with you over the next month regarding uniform and equipment collection. Do not hesitate to reach out to the Athletic Directors as well.
