The seventh grade Eagles of David L Rahn Junior High continued Route 72 conference play this past week when they traveled to Stillman Valley on Tuesday and hosted Forreston on Thursday. On September 11th, the Eagles were guests of Meridian for two matches. In the first game of match number one, the Eagles looked to take control early with strong serving from setters Gracen Pitts and Alexis Ebert. DLR took the game, 25-17. Pitts had eight service points and Ebert, five. In the second game, the Cardinals took charge, countering with strong serving of their own, as they defeated DLR, 11-25. In the third and deciding game of the match, it was back and forth as both teams played their best. In the end, missed serves cost the Eagles a 25-27 defeat. Sarah Stevens led the Eagles with five crucial serves. In the second match, the Eagles again took the lead in game one for the 25-15 win. Stevens led the team with nine points. Meridian came roaring back to take game two, 19-25. The deciding third game was close once again as the teams battled it out. The Cardinals were able to get their serves in when it counted and beat DLR, 19-25. On Thursday, the Oregon Hawks Volleyball teams came for a visit to watch the Eagles take on the Forreston Cardinals. The Eagles were fired up in game one. Missed serves by both teams made volleying tough but DLR got it together in the 25-18 win. Pitts led the team with four service points. In game two, Ebert sparked the Eagles to a 25-16 victory with ten service points. In the third game, the Eagles made a clean sweep of the Cardinals, winning 25-23. Addison Sabin led DLR with seven points. The Eagles will be in action next week with matches at Rock Falls, with Pecatonica, at Polo and will travel to the Dixon Middle School Invite on Saturday.
