Game Summary

Yorkville at West Aurora

Yorkville traveled to West Aurora to begin the 2nd half of SPC play and lost a heartbreaker on a last second, half court shot 47-48.  The Foxes started out strong taking a 10-1 lead before West Aurora came back to only be down 2 after the 1st period 12-10.  A cold shooting 2nd quarter allowed West Aurora to take the lead going into halftime 12-22.  Yorkville made 5 3-pointers in the 3rd quarter to cut into the lead but at one point were still down by 8 with just over 2 minutes left to play.  Cole Yearsley, who had a game high 19 points, made a couple steals that lead to layups for him on the other end to take the lead.  With the game tied at 45, Brandon Ducoing (team high 6 assists and 4 points) made a nice pass to Zak Konecny for a back door layup with 7 seconds remaining to give Yorkville the lead 47-45.  The Foxes were only 2-2 from the free throw line while the Blackhawks shot 9-15.  West Aurora was able to get a shot off from half court that banked in as the buzzer sounded winning the game 47-48.  Konecny and Josh Beetham each scored 8 points and both were tied for the team high with 5 rebounds.  Konecny's defense held their top scorer to only 2 points off of free throws before hitting the last second 3 pointer.  Yorkville falls to 9-13 overall and 2-8 in SPC.Yorkville will host Oswego Saturday for the Hoops for Hope event with the varsity game starting at 6:00 pm.
