Boys Basketball-Jacobs' hot shooting too much for Dundee-Crown

The Jacobs boys basketball team demonstrated on Saturday why shooters need short memories.

The Golden Eagles were on fire from beyond the arc in a 61-44 matinee win at Dundee-Crown.

They made 12 of 24 attempts from 3-point range against D-C's 1-3-1 zone defense, a shooting performance coach Jimmy Roberts called the best by Jacobs in his seven seasons at the Algonquin school.

It was a dramatic improvement from their 1-for-20 shooting performance from the same range four days earlier in a 61-44 win at Prairie Ridge. Six players drained a 3-pointer, paced by three apiece from senior Andrew Balkcom and juniors Zach Leahy and Robert Pennel.

"We shot it really bad against Prairie Ridge so it was a lot of fun to come and shoot it well here," Leahy said. "We were just super hot."
