Boys soccer: Dundee-Crown ousts Streamwood on PKs

Dundee-Crown senior Roland Dearborn didn't want Saturday's Class 3A Dundee-Crown regional championship game to be his last.

Dearborn's goal in the shootout turned out to be the game-winner as No. 2 seed Dundee-Crown pulled out a hard fought 3-2 win over seventh-seeded Streamwood in rainy and muddy conditions in Carpentersville.

The Chargers scored 4 goals in the shootout compared to 3 for Streamwood.

The Chargers (13-9-1) won their second consecutive regional crown and will play Fox Valley Conference foe Huntley at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Class 3A DeKalb sectional.

"The seniors on this team were determined this was not going to be our last game," said Dearborn.

"On a penalty kick, it is all about being patient and picking a spot where you want to shoot it. It was a horrible day to play. You really couldn't move very well because of the water and mud. You had to stay mentally strong and our team did. What a great feeling to win back-to-back regional titles."
