Dundee-Crown's defense locks down Crystal Lake Central
Dundee-Crown will certainly enjoy better offensive outputs during the shortened 2021 season.
But, on Friday night against host Crystal Lake Central in a Fox Valley Conference encounter, the Chargers' defense took center stage for 32 minutes.
The defensive numbers the Chargers posted were staggering.
D-C held the host Tigers to 5 field goals and forced 18 turnovers in posting an impressive 43-14 win.
Central converted 5-of-25 from the field and 1-of-10 from beyond the arc.
"The kids have really been working hard on defense in practice," said D-C coach Lance Huber. "It was all man-to-man tonight. We scored enough. Give them credit. They played great defense."
The Chargers (3-1, 3-1) set the tone defensively in the first quarter. D-C held the Tigers without a point for the first 8 minutes of the game. Propelled by 4 points from Terrell Powell and a 3-pointer from Jason Huber, the Chargers led 9-0 after a quarter.
