Team Stats

2011 Aurora City Championships

As I sit down to analyze the results I am seeing great racing across the board. Those that were around last year – I am seeing us faster than City – and a lot of you are faster than Marmion. Those that are new (and it is a large chunk) – incredible first races – racing 3 miles is something you have to grow into – learn and grow – and you now have one down and you can adjust and change and see how you can improve.

Young guys – I am impressed by the fact that 4 of you fall into our top 6 – that makes me very excited for the future – if you keep working and stay together – you will be very dangerous in the future. Take time to think about your races so that when we hit that course again in 2 weeks you are ready to run faster and stronger.

Varsity group – Well done – I saw small packs develop and people stepping up into roles. Look at Miguel and how he handles pain – through an injury he debuts with an Awesome time. Look at Tomas and his work ethic – we all see how hard he works – and now on the course it is paying off. Keep positive and focused and we will grow into a very tough team.

Ricky Barajas – 17:44 (23) – 17:01 – Slightly faster than Marmion last year – ahead of yourself – ahead of time

Isaac Soriano – 18:00 (5) – 17:17 - 59 Seconds Faster than City last year (10 ahead of Marmion) – Awesome front running

Felipe Nino – 18:10 (7) – 17:26 – Excellent start to your career – Keep learning from your races

Abel Mosqueda – 18:17 (32) – 17:33 – Run smart and close that gap with Ricky – 38 seconds faster than City last year

Francisco Valtierrez – 19:12 (22) – 18:25 – Great Debut race – strong finish – should you use some earlier?

Fredrick Wilson – 19:39 (28) – 18:51 – Very strong run – out very quick – be intelligent with your racing

Miguel Sanchez – 20:01 (54) – 19:13 – Tough run through pain – I wish everyone was as tough as you

Salvador Rodriguez – 20:44 (66) – 19:54 – Same time as City last year – keep working and it will come back to you

Tomas Navarro – 22:52 (80) – 21:57 – 2 minutes faster than Marmion last year – You are working your butt of and it shows – Great Work

Diego Gutierrez – 23:51 (83) – 22:53 – Great starting point – now you will learn and grow – I am excited to see you race

Junior Leon – 24:10 (87) – 23:12 – Well done – you are a scrapper – feel out how a race works best for you

Baltazar Nino – 24:32 (87) – 23:33 – Races are both physical and mental – How much do you want it?

Alejandro Ramos – 25:04 (94) – 24:04 – Great Freshman time – you are impressing me with your effort

Course History:

When Andy Parra and Tony Hernandez (Nike Tony) were a Freshman and Sophomore respectively – the City meet was here and Andy went first place with Tony coming in second…their times were 18:55 and 18:56 --- Isaac and Felipe you would have killed them – and Francisco steps into the top 5 of that race

The fastest Freshman time on this course is 17:40 (Challenge for Felipe in 2 weeks)

The fastest Sophomore time is 16:47
