Head Coach: Justin Rhymes (1st Season)

Email: justinrhymes1@gmail.com

Conference: White Central

Conference Champions: 2011 (Green)

Justin D. Rhymes is a man of determination, tenacity and perseverance.  He is a goal-setter and a go getter, meeting obstacles head-on to meet desired outcomes.  Musically gifted, from producing to performing, Justin has remained true to his passion of coaching and training basketball athletes.  Here at Eric Solorio Academy High School, he is ready to make an impact on the future of the players’ true talent.

Justin attended Evangelical Christian school, where he played and learned the fundamentals of basketball, and eagerly enrolled in Simeon High School. Just as he was interested in basketball, Justin was also interested in playing instruments and there, at Simeon, he began growing a strong desire to play piano. As his music talents began to ascend, he began to focus on that side of the spectrum more. Graduating from Simeon in 2013, Justin entered Columbia College in Chicago where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business and Entrepreneurship with a concentration in Music Business. It’s often stated that both music production and basketball are skills that can be mastered through hard work and an indefatigable work ethic.  Here he has embroidered them both with spectacular outcomes.

Justin began his basketball career as a player with youth teams often breaking away to devote his time to music.  With both passions residing within, Justin returned to basketball as a coach and trainer. Justin began as an elementary school coach in 2015, where he took the 5th and 6th grade basketball team to the city championship at Vanderpoel Humanities Academy. He then began coaching AAU basketball in the spring and summer with C- House International AAU team. With C-House, Justin also helped manage and run an 8 week basketball skills summer camp for 2nd-8th graders. Justin has always had the passion and desire to run a basketball program of his own and always stayed prepared. His career got underway as the freshman coach at Eric Solorio Academy High school in 2016, where he was promoted within the same year to the Head Sophomore Coach.  Working his way upward, Justin landed the role as the Assistant Varsity Coach in 2017. At the end of the 2017 season, Justin’s preparation and passion was recognized. Justin will be entering the 2018 season as Program Leader and Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Eric Solorio Academy High school. Justin is on a fast track of success for grooming, training and instilling sportsmanship into today’s players.

Justin earned his coaching license with USA Basketball and is driven by studying basketball footage of games on varying levels. He started studying film as early as eight years old, where his grandfather once told him, “You’re going to be a coach one day.”  Inside he agreed. To assist with this goal, Justin trains athletes in youth, high school, college and the professional basketball realm. Overseas players such as Patrick Mills , Kenny Rhymes and numerous others who’ve experienced the Rhymes affect will share, he has a winning spirit and the knowledge to make it happen.
