BOYS BOWLING | Varsity
Head Coach - Miguel Danzot (3rd Season)
Conference Championship: 2017 (Skyline)
Coach Miguel Danzot was instrumental in creating the boys bowling program at Solorio in 2016. Since then he has led the Sun Warriors to a conference championship in 2017 and now has them competing in the Public League Gold Division.
Coach Danzot was captain of the boys bowling team at Gage Park HS and then was a member of the intermural bowling team at Chicago State University. He’s a sanctioned member of the USBC and continues to compete in leagues across the city.
Prior to coaching at Solorio, he initiated a junior league team, The Madison Cubs, in South Bend, Indiana.
Getting to know Coach Danzot
Why did you get into coaching?
While living in Indiana I worked at a school with my children. The principal suggested that she would like to start up a few teams at Madison Elementary. I then felt that I had enough knowledge in a few sports to step up and initiate a few teams. I quickly realized I loved coaching and when I moved back to Chicago, Solorio soon became my home and I am glad I was able to continue coaching.
What are you goals for your program/team?
Well since we are new to the Gold Conference, we are acknowledging that the competition has vastly improved. This year we hope to adjust to the new conference and realize the work we need to put in to eventually be one of the top teams in the city.
What is your favorite part of coaching at Solorio?
Having the opportunity to work with elite students and athletes. It’s great to have exceptional young individuals who push themselves to not only excel in sports but in class as well.
