Divers score 1-2-3 sweep at CSL South meet

Evanston's divers scored a 1-2-3 sweep and the Wildkits added season best times in almost every swimming event Saturday on their way to a 2nd place team finish at the Central Suburban League South division meet held at the Burton Aquatic Center.

Trevor Nelson ruled the diving competition with 537.45 points, a season-high, ahead of teammates Henry Goodman (460.15) and freshman Aryeh Lesch (366.20) for ETHS. Glenbrook South captured the team title with 456 points, but the Wildkits outscored rival New Trier 297-285 to claim runneup honors.

Evanston's best included a 2nd place finish in the 100-yard butterfly by senior Rafael de Gouvea, in 52.40 seconds, and fourth in the 50 freestyle in 22.20; a fourth by John Martin in the 500 freestyle in 4:51.33; a fourth by Charlie Duffy in the 200 individual medley in 2:00.22 and a fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.36; and a fourth by Aaron Martin in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.60.

The foursome of Duffy, de Gouvea, Aaron Martin and Santiago Ramos-Torrescano took 2nd in the 200 freestyle relay in a season best 1:27.66.
