Raivyn Summers chalked up a 6-game pinfall of 1209 and led the Evanston girls bowling team to the IHSA regional championship Saturday at the Resurrection Regional competition.
It marked the first regional title in program history. Coach Ray Austin's team will advance to the Zion-Benton Sectional set for Friday at Sunset Lanes in Waukegan. The top four scoring teams at the sectional will advance to the IHSA state finals in Rockford February 21-22.
Summers, a sophomore, registered the second best individual series at the regional --- behind only individual champion Kaiilina Lainez of Niles North at 1303 --- and the Kits also received top 10 efforts from senior Genevieve Christon (6th at 1115) and senior Asya Wright (9th at 1098).
Also contributing for the champs were junior Dahna Duffy with a 1024. Senior Anne Porter totaled 861 in her 5 games and another senior, Riley Hays, backed her up with a single game effort of 142.
