Come from behind win keeps Kits alive

Bouncing back from a slaughter rule loss at Maine South 24 hours earlier, Evanston's baseball team scored a come-from-behind 5-3 victory over the Hawks in Wednesday's rematch to stay alive in the Central Suburban League South division race entering the final week of competition.

An RBI single by Alex Vasquez and a key South error helped the Wildkits overcome a 3-1 deficit as they staged a 3-run rally in the bottom of the 5th. Evan Burns (2-for-3) drove in an insurance run in the 6th.

Winning pitcher Hank Liss allowed 3 runs, 6 hits and struck out 6 in his 5-inning stint. Danny Sheikh contributed 2 innings of scoreless relief for the winners, retiring all 6 batters he faced.
