IMPORTANT MESSAGE - Hampshire High School to Observe Two-Week Closure for Adaptive Pause
Yesterday, we were notified by the Kane County Health Department that Hampshire High School will observe an “Adaptive Pause” beginning on October 12 and ending October 22. This means all Hampshire High School students will not be allowed on campus for in-person instruction and will transition to remote learning from October 12 through October 22. Students are expected to return to Hampshire High School for in-person instruction on Monday, October 25th.
The Kane County Health Department is implementing the Adaptive Pause as a mitigation strategy to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. Since September 28, Hampshire High School has had 37 positive COVID-19 student cases.
Information Regarding Tonight’s Sporting Events: Tonight’s football games will be played as follows:
** Football players will be allowed to play per the required KCHD testing protocols.
** Marching band and dance will participate as scheduled utilizing COVID mitigation strategies such as physical distancing and masking, as appropriate.
** Only immediate family members of students who are on the team or who are participating in marching band/dance will be permitted as spectators and will be required to wear a mask.
Coaches will communicate to students (in all sports, marching band, and dance) the status of future practices and game schedules and any other notable updates. Information for Sporting Events from October 9 through October 24: The Health Department will permit students to continue participating in sports that are currently in-season under the following guidance:
** High-Risk Sports - Football, volleyball, and soccer athletes will need to test for COVID-19 before each practice and each game. Athletes who do not test for COVID-19 will not be eligible to participate in athletics throughout the duration of the two-week adaptive pause. Coaches will be in contact with athletes to provide more details.
** Low-Risk Sports - Athletes for all other sports that are currently in-season would only need to test for COVID-19 if taking a bus to their event. Athletes who do not test for COVID-19 will not be eligible to travel with the team on a bus throughout the duration of the two-week adaptive pause.
