The Lockport Boys Swim Team has jumped out to a great start this swim season. The Porters(140pts) opened the varsity season with a win over Andrew(111pts) and Plainfield (70pts). First place finishers included the medley relay of Mike Pedroni, Billy Bafia, Larry Formosa, and Kevin Moran with a time of 1:46.53. Sophomore Jay Schackle was victorious in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.96 while Senior Pat Cavanaugh won the 50 free with a time of 23.46. The divers teamed up to go 1st and 2nd lead by Senior Troy Gerrity and followed by sophomore Connor Howard. Kevin Moran was first in the 100 fly with a time of 59.86 followed by Larry Formosa clocking in with a 51.06 good enough for first in the 100 free. The 200 free Relay of Larry Formosa, Pat Cavanaugh, Mike Pedroni, and Kevin Moran won with a time of 1:31.63. Mike Pedroni won the 100 Back with a 1:02.65 and 100 Breast was won by Larry Formosa with a time of 1:09.21.
On Saturday the Porters competed in the West Chicago Relay invitational finishing 3rd behind Waubonsie Valley and Neuqua Valley. The porters had strong performances all around, however the only even winner was the divers relay made up of Troy Gerrity, Connor Howard, and Josh Nielsen.
Monday the Porters will be hosting Lincoln Way Central for dual meet.
