Marist wrestling will be represented by six athletes at the IHSA individual state final February 20 through 22 in Champaign, Ill. Tom Muñoz '20 (285 lbs.), Mateen Taylor '21 (138 lbs.), Ghee Rachal '22 (195 lbs.), Tom Boland '22 (152 lbs.), Bobby Gaylord '21 (170 lbs.), and Owen Dunalp '22 (120) will compete for Marist. Ethan Bednarczyk '21 (106 lbs.) qualified as an alternate.
State competition begins Thursday, February 20 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Quarterfinals and wrestlebacks will start at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Friday, while second round wrestlebacks start at 1:30 p.m. Semifinal championships will begin at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday quarterfinal and semifinal wrestlebacks will take place at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, and third through sixth place matches start at 1 p.m. The grand march and championship matches begin at 5:30 p.m. starting at 106 lbs. The state finals are held at the State Farm Center. Please note the facility's clear bag policy. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults for each session. There are five sessions in total during the weekend. A discounted weekend ticket is available. All tickets are sold at the door. Parking is available for $12 per day.
