BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS - MONDAY, MARCH 1, 2021
Hi everyone,
I wanted to reach out as we approach next week's tryout regarding times and expectations. By this time, anyone that hopes to tryout should have registered on the Marist 8to18 website (most did this last fall) and should have an up to date physical on file at Marist. The times are as follows:
Freshmen Tryouts: Monday, March 1, 2:45-4:45 pm in the stadium (north end)
Tuesday, March 2, 3:15-5:00 pm in the stadium (north end)
JV Tryouts: Sophomores should report unless Coach Maxwell told you otherwise
Monday, March 1, 2:45-4:45 pm in the stadium (south side)
Tuesday, March 2, 3:15-5:00 pm in the stadium (south side)
Varsity Tryout: Juniors and seniors should report in addition to anyone Coach Maxwell spoke to
Monday, March 1, 4:30-6:30 pm in the stadium
Tuesday, March 2, 4:30-6:15 pm in the stadium
The practices will start on Wednesday March 3. The tentative schedule for the week follows:
Freshmen: Wed., March 3 6:00-7:45 am (gym or turf)
Thurs, March 4, 3:15-4:30 pm, Classroom
Friday, March 5, 2:30-4:30 pm, middle 1/3 of stadium
Sat., March 6, 12-2 pm, stadium
JV: Wed., March 3, 2:30-4:30 pm, middle 1/3 of stadium
Thurs, March 4, 3-5 pm, small gym
Friday, March 5, 3-5 pm, small gym or classroom
Sat., March 6, 12-2 pm, stadium
Varsity: Wed., March 3, 6-7:45 am, gym or stadium, weather dependent
Thur., March 4, 7-9 pm stadium
Friday, March 5, 6-7:45 pm Midlothian complex
Saturday, March 6, 7:30-9:30 am Midlothian complex
All practice times are subject to change and will be communicated to players by their coaches. Teams will be chosen by Tuesday evening and communicated to players. Please let me know if you have any questions.

On Saturday, September 5, 2020, Marist hosted St. Ignatius, who finished 3rd in State in 2019. Marist Junior Jake Phillips dropped 36 seconds for a NEW COURSE RECORD and PERSONAL BEST time of 15:25.1 to WIN the meet individually. Marist Junior Andrew Kerlin also earned a MEDAL by placing 8th overall with a personal best time of 16:35.3. Captain Kevin Bugos (13th, 17:11.4), Sophomore Danny Olsen (14th, 17:23.9), and Captain Tommy Kavanaugh (16th, 17:33.8) completed the scoring for the RedHawks. Captain Tommy Wagner (18th, 18:08.5), and Junior Brendan Geary (19th, 18:17.4) finished sixth and 7th for the RedHawks. On the Sophomore level, Freshman Jack Connor dropped a minute and six seconds in one week on the same course to finish in second place overall with a PERSONAL BEST time of 18:27.0! Sophomore Walter Fleming (6th, 19:33), Freshman Mitchell Madaras (8th, 19:36.2), and Sophomore Frankie Wagner (9th, 20:12.6) also earned Medals on the Sophomore level. Marist Freshman Riley West (12th, 20:22.6) completed the scoring for the RedHawks. The meet was named after Marist Alumni Matt Wagner, who currently runs for Illinois Wesleyan, and earned MVP honors. St. Ignatius won the Varsity, Sophomore, and Junior Varsity levels.
