November 2020 Signing Day

The First National Letter of Intent Signing Day for 2020-2021 will be Wednesday, November 11th in a virtual setting.  We will have our signing ceremony via Google Hangout beginning at 4:30 pm.   If you are an Oswego East athlete that is committed to a college for athletics and are prepared to do your signing, please email Mr. Millard at tmillard@sd308.org with your name, sport, school email address, and the school you are signing with by the morning of  November 10th.  An email will be sent to you that you can then share with parents, coaches, and family.  Please have the signing student wear a shirt or hat from the college.  Your high school coach will introduce you, say a few things in your honor, and then we will allow you a minute or so to say thank you to your group.  Please keep all comments professional and respectful.  We look forward to giving this opportunity to our student-athletes as we all practice social distancing and do our parts to end this pandemic.  Congratulations to all who are signing!

ImPACT Testing

In order to alleviate some lost time in the Winter, Spring and Summer seasons the Athletic Training staff is going to start doing baseline ImPACT testing 10/26/2020.  We can test 15 athletes per date available.  Any athlete that plans to participate in a Winter, Spring or Summer sport this year will need to have a baseline test completed.  Athletes will not be allowed to participate in competitions/games with their sport until the baseline test has been completed.

Baseline tests are valid for 2 years.  We will need ALL Freshmen, Juniors, transfer students and any athlete that sustained a concussion in the last year to take the baseline test.  If a test was completed during a fall sport, it is not necessary to complete the baseline test again.  Please use the link to sign up for a date to complete your ImPACT test (additional dates will open as these fill up).

COVID Reminders

Guardians and Athletes,

As we approach the end of the fall sports season, I want to thank all of you for your continued support of Oswego East Athletics through this pandemic as well as express my gratitude for your adherence to our guidelines and policies.

With that said, as we turn towards the Winter Sports Season, I do want to take a moment to remind everyone of our expectations in order to continue to provide a safe environment for our student-athletes, coaches, and the entire Oswego East community. Please see the following:

  1. Phase 4 Guidelines - Our coaches and athletes continue to follow the Phase 4 guidelines per the IHSA, IDPH, and SD308. Coaches will continue to follow our check-in and attendance procedures at all practices/workouts.

    1. Masks - Per our guidelines, we require anyone inside the building (athletes, coaches, etc) to be masked at all times. When outdoors, if social distancing can not be maintained, coaches, athletes, spectators, etc. are also required to wear a mask. Athletes engaged in outdoor activities can remove their masks.

  2. Monitoring Own Health - We ask that student-athletes and guardians continue to monitor your own health. If athletes are sick, we ask that they avoid coming to practices/workouts just to be on the safe side.

  3. Reporting Potential Exposure - If a student-athlete has come in contact with a positive test or someone with positive symptoms, we ask that you report that to the school. This will help us contact trace any of our athletic groups to again provide a safe environment.

  4. Social Distancing and Gatherings - Per the IDPH, we ask that even when you are not attending an Oswego East event, that you be cognizant of social distancing in public and to avoid large gatherings if possible. Again, following these guidelines in public will help us provide a safe environment for our student-athletes and coaches to continue their participation at Oswego East.

As with everything surrounding this pandemic, much of this information is very fluid. We will continue to provide updates and changes to our guidelines as needed.

Again, thank you for your continued support of Oswego East Athletics. We look forward to continuing to provide an opportunity for our athletes to participate in as safe an environment as possible.
