Varsity girls Basketball Falls in IHSA Regional Semis

The Varsity Girls Basketball Team opened IHSA Regional play at Lockport HS against the host Porters.  The Chargers came out hot, opening a 7-3 lead on Kelsey Dwyer's 3 point basket.  But Lockport righted themselves, and for the rest of the first half, it was a close battle that saw the Chargers in front 23-22.  The Chargers continued to build momentum in the 3rd quarter by scoring 17 points, and opening up a 5 point lead, 40-35 with just 8 minutes to play.  Stagg held a 7 point lead with just a few minutes to play and looked to advance to Thursday's Regional Championship, but it was not to be as the Porters finished the game on a strong run to win it.

Leading all scorers in the game was Laila Barakat with 27 points.  Gail Korbitz had 11 and Kelsey Dwyer had 7.  Congrats to our 6 Seniors on a fantastic four years in the Charger Basketball Program.

The Chargers finish their season at 13-18.
