  • The results are as followed;
1st place Cadet Evian Rodriguez and Cadet Jason Arceo placing in the demilitarized armed exhibition dual phase
2nd place Cadet Mahal Poniente and Cadet Elizabeth Domalik placing in the alternative armed exhibition dual phase
4th place Cadet Dan Balona and Cadet Diego Henao placing in the demilitarized armed exhibition dual phase
Lead by Cadet Diana Espinoza, 4th place in unarmed inspection platoon
Lead by Cadet Fatima Gonzalez, 4th place in unarmed exhibition platoon
  • Team finished 6th in Unarmed Inspection and 7th in Unarmed Exhibition Drill out of over 4o school around the Country.
  • Armed Exhibition Team finished 11th in the Nation out of over 4o schools in the Country.
  • The Waukegan High School JROTC Varsity Bulldog Drill Team took first place at the Annual Purdue Army ROTC Drill Meet on Saturday, February 8, to highlight a successful day for WHS students at the competition.

In addition to a first place showing among JROTC varsity drill teams, the WHS JV Drill Team took home second place. Additionally, the Drill Team’s Color Guard took fourth place in its competition.

The team also saw individual success, as Freshman Aileen Ponce finished 6th and Senior Emily Morales finished 7th out of more than 300 competitors in the Unarmed Tap-Out Competition.   

“Everyone is very proud of the cadets’ performance. Each group did a wonderful job wowing the judges, and representing Waukegan High School ,” said Varsity Drill Team Coach 1st Sgt. Lloyd Cunningham.

The varsity team is commanded by Emily Morales. Other team members include: Alejandra Reyes, Alejandro Guerrero, Ruby Alvarez, America Vera, Ashley Basco, Eunylda Mari, Isabel Quirino, Ivan Quirino, Jose Rojas, Jocelyn Zamudio, Mariah Manning, Michael Moore, Janine Papa and Austin Christensen.

Junior varsity commanders are Nancy Carrillo and Marco Arceo. Team members include: Gabriela Garcia, Evelin Leguizamo, Elssie Andino, Cristian Reyes, Diana Sosa, Juliana Angel, Marilyn Figueroa, Luz Salomon, Aileen Ponce, Maureen Dudley and Rachel Dudley.
  • First Year to participate, team made a good showing, but no trophies.
  • Team took 3rd Place in the Country in Daytona Beach, FL
