Winter Athletics Update
I hope this message finds you safe, healthy, and well.
This is Brandon Murphy, Athletic Director at Willowbrook H.S. I am emailing to let you know that registration is still open for the 2020-2021 Winter Sports Season.
Please read District #88’s announcement regarding Winter Athletics:
On Monday, Jan. 18, DuPage County (region 8) was moved to Phase 4 Tier 2 mitigation. While the county remains in “substantial transmission,” as a result of this change in status and improved numbers, District 88 will implement the following (provided the community transmission levels don’t increase):
Jan. 25: District 88 will end its adaptive pause (which was implemented on Nov. 20 and suspended all in-person curricular and extracurricular activities).
Jan. 25: District 88 will begin winter sports. See important details below. Student-athletes will receive communication from their coaches with specific details.
Approved winter sports are:
Boys Swimming & Diving
At this time, we haven’t received approval from state health organizations or the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) to allow Boys and Girls Basketball to take place during the winter season. We will continue to monitor these sports and will share any provided updates.
Student-athletes who plan to participate in winter sports must register online at the links below.
Willowbrook will be participating in the following approved sports: Girls Bowling, Cheerleading, Dance (POMS), Girls Gymnastics, Girls Badminton, and Boys Swimming and Diving. Please visit our website at il.8to18.com/willowbrook to register for a sport. If you need instructions to register, they are located on the front page of the website under the resources section.
Additionally, a student must have a current physical on file to participate in athletics. You can find the physical form under the resources section on the website as well. Physicals can be emailed to Alma Villegas at AVILLEGAS@dupage88.net or can be dropped off at door #45 between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. To schedule a drop off appointment please call 630-782-3144.
After registration is complete, one of our coaches will be in contact with you to inform you of tryout information, and sport-specific protocols. Contact information and sport-specific information can be found below.
Thank you for your continued support of Willowbrook High School and Go Warriors!!
With Warrior Pride,
Mr. Brandon Murphy
